Doing our part in times of crisis
Published on: May 1, 2020
Faced with the current situation, community involvement is more important than ever before to protect and support the most vulnerable. Even if the COVID-19 pandemic affects us all, its repercussions are not the same for everyone.
Contributing to collective efforts to reduce the impact of this virus is very important to us. For this reason, we are proud to provide financial support to seven organizations based in Quebec. With this act of solidarity, we hope to help the people most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic to get through this difficult period and encourage medical research to fight this virus.
Supporting our communities, one step at a time
Employees’ choice: Little Brothers
As part of an internal survey, we asked Québec Blue Cross employees to choose a charitable organization based in Quebec to support in these difficult times. The organization that caught our attention is Little Brothers, which has been dedicated for almost 60 years to break the isolation of lonely seniors aged 75 and over. A mission which, in the current situation, is more than necessary.
A donation will be made to the COVID-19 emergency fund set up by Little Brothers to support their telephone squad launched last April.

Contribution to our partner organizations emergency funds
We are pleased to strengthen our support for the Fondation Olo, NOVA Montreal, and the CHU Sainte-Justine. In addition, we are joining forces with Medavie Blue Cross to support the initiatives put in place by the Dr. Clown Foundation during this unprecedented crisis period.
A financial contribution will be made to the emergency fund of each of these partners to continue their support to families facing food vulnerability, people at the end of life at home, children hospitalized or suffering from a serious illness as well as elderly people in care facilities.

Children's Wish
Nearly 50 children in Quebec had their travel wishes postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our employees wanted to make sure that each wish child received a surprise package, delivered safely to their doorstep to let them know that although they aren’t able to fulfill their travel wishes right now, the future is still bright.
For more than 30 years, we have been offering free travel insurance to the Children's Wish Foundation's children and their families on their dream trip. We are very proud of that. When the world is ready for them to travel again, Québec Blue Cross will be by their side.

Fondation Héma-Québec
Since the beginning of the crisis, Héma-Québec has been working tirelessly to maintain the supply of biological products of human origin while coping with the loss of more than 70% of their active volunteers. In this context, we are supporting the Fondation Héma-Québec by making a corporate donation to financially support their recruitment campaigns and contribute to their efforts to secure their collective blood supply.

Our civic responsibility: inseparable from our purpose
Our willingness to offer everyone an equal opportunity to receive essential care is deeply rooted in our history. Founded in 1942 by a group of hospital directors and business people, Quebec Blue Cross was specifically set up to facilitate affordable access to healthcare services. The proposed formula has also helped lay the foundation for the provincial health insurance plan that we benefit from today.
In 2020, our mission to ensure our communities’ health and wellness continues to guide each of our decisions. This commitment is demonstrated daily in the services we offer to our clients, but also in the actions we take to support our communities.
Therefore, it is only natural for us to support organizations that are well established in our community to participate in the fight against COVID-19.
Let’s take care of each other.
